What’s the lowest temperature that you’ll hand wash your car? For years I haven’t bothered if it’s below 50 degrees, but I can’t take it anymore. 46 is close enough right?

The water is too cold under 70. Yes, I drive a Camry, how could you tell?

While you’re at it, can I drop off my E92? It needs a wash. I’ll pick it up on the 26th, thanks.

At this time of year, the only time it’s not raining means it’s 30-something and clear. So basically I don’t wash my car

Any time after between Halloween and St Pattie’s Day is off limits for hand washing.
IDGAF about my paint or under carriage, I’ll spend the $10 to run it through an auto wash on a warm-ish day in between.

Bare hands? 45 or so.
Latex gloves with heavy rubber cleaning gloves over them? 32.
The key is delaying the numbing of you hands.
I think with one of those foam cannons I could go even lower

It really depends - 45 with bright sunlight and no wind can still feel fairly warm (especially if it hits that temperature for good period of time), but 45 and overcast and windy that just touches 45 at 1pm is too cold for me.

Damn! I’m already done. I never thought about Latex gloves, wish I’d seen this before I started.

The heavy rubber ones are the more important barrier, the latex/nitrile just helps. You could even wear real insulated gloves under the heavy rubber.

What’s this washing of cars you speak of? Maybe I’ll take it to a car wash in February when it warms up a bit.

I’ve done it bare-handed in temps just above freezing because I was planning on going to a semi-professional photoshoot that day and the Miata hadn’t been washed in months. I probably won’t do that again.

40 is my cutoff. Usually if you wait a week or so during winter here, a 50 degree day will pop up for washing.

32 degrees is my cut off for hand washing, otherwise it becomes a pita to borrow the hair dryer to melt the rinse water that freezes before you can dry it. The feeling in my hands always comes back later.

I could go down to 40 when i lived in CO. Only because the builder was a genius (the garage had a hot water spigot).

If it’s below 50 I use sealskinz gloves for a rinseless wash. I’ve done it as cold as 30, but it was sunny and there was no wind. Normally I won’t wash below 40.

With a power washer, foam lance and a heated spigot all year long is fair play.

I’ve yet to try a rinseless wash, you’ve had good experiences? It would be nice to use in the winter, as long as I don’t have a ton of paint correction to do in the spring.

Oh yea, it’s great. One bucket of rinseless wash and ton of clean microfiber and I can wash and dry in about 30-40 minutes. I use Pinnacle rinseless wash from autogeek.
EDIT: Buy some super-plush microfiber for the rinseless the wash, and only dry with a high quality microfiber drying towels and you shouldn’t experience much, if any, marring. If you own a black car I can’t guarantee anything, LOL! I have a dark blue GTI and don’t get swirls from the rinseless wash.
